Check out these two posters forMirror, Mirror featuring Lily Collins and Julia Roberts! The 44-year-old actress takes on the role of the Evil Queen, something she initially was hesitant to do.
“I was like, this is a terrible idea. I was against it a thousand percent,” Julia told Extra. “[But] I’m such a fan of [director] Tarsem[Singh] and fell so under his spell! It was pretty fun,” she explained.
Julia also shared she felt “awful” with how her character treated co-star Lily, who plays Snow White.
“I was terrible. I think I might’ve slapped her once for no reason! Just because she’s pretty!” Julia joked.
Mirror, Mirror also stars Armie Hammer and Nathan Lane and hits theaters March 16!
Cue that laugh: Julia Roberts will return to comedy once again, this time as both star and producer of an upcoming feature from New Regency. The production company confirmed to EW that the Oscar winner will pull double duty on the project, which she’ll produce alongside Trudie Styler, Lisa Gillan, and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas. The film, which does not have a director or writer on board yet, will be about a woman (Roberts) who is forced to head into the working world despite never having held a job before in her life. In other words, a bit of a stretch for Roberts, who is as busy as ever and will soon be seen in the other Snow White movie, Mirror, Mirror.
Just a little reminder to go out and pick up Larry Crowne on DVD or Blu-Ray
Academy Award® winners Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts come together for a romantic and optimistic comedy about how it’s never too late to reinvent yourself. When he suddenly finds himself without his long-standing blue-collar job, Larry Crowne (Hanks) enrolls at his local college to start over. There, he becomes part of an eclectic community of students and develops a crush on his teacher (Roberts). Now this simple guy will discover that when you think everything worth having has passed you by, you just might find your reason to live. Starring: Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Bryan Cranston, Cedric the Entertainer, Taraji P. Henson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wilmer Valderrama, Pam Grier, Rita Wilson, Rob Riggle, George Takei Directed by: Tom Hanks
ou don’t have to be a movie expert to know Untitled Snow White Project is a terrible name for a movie. But that was all we had for the fairy tale adaptation starring Julia Roberts and Lilly Collins. Not anymore.
We finally have a title — Mirror, Mirror. Huh? Could we go back to Untitled Snow White Project? Maybe we just need some time to get used to the new title.
At least it doesn’t have “Snow White” in the title. No doubt it’s already going to be confusing with two Snow White movies coming out within months of each other. Mirror, Mirror opens March 16, while the competing Snow White and the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron opens June 1.
Good thing the differences go beyond the movies’ titles. Snow White and the Huntsman is more of an action-adventure (and, dare we say, looks more like Lord of the Rings than Disney), while Mirror, Mirror offers a more fanciful take on the fairy tale. Still, it’s almost a sure thing that these two movies will be going after the same audience.
I had a wonderful time hanging out with Tarsem Singh today, talking about his latest action epic Immortals, when the conversation steered towards his as-yet-untitled Snow White movie, which stars Julia Roberts as the evil queen. He gave us some juicy inside details about the plot, the potential rating, and even some potentially SPOILER HEAVY descriptions of the film’s ending. The movie isn’t set to come out until next year, so we’ll warn you when the bigger revelations are coming towards the end of this excerpt from our upcoming interview.
CraveOnline: I have to ask. How is ‘Snow White’ coming?
Tarsem Singh: Awesome. It was much, much, much, much easier to do, because Julia [Roberts] was so on my side and everyone’s terrified of going against [her]. So all my fights were taken care of. I wanted to make a family film, and they asked me if I wanted to make it edgy, and I said, “No.” Read the rest of this entry »
