“I was like, this is a terrible idea. I was against it a thousand percent,” Julia told Extra. “[But] I’m such a fan of [director] Tarsem[Singh] and fell so under his spell! It was pretty fun,” she explained.

Julia also shared she felt “awful” with how her character treated co-star Lily, who plays Snow White.

“I was terrible. I think I might’ve slapped her once for no reason! Just because she’s pretty!” Julia joked.

Mirror, Mirror also stars Armie Hammer and Nathan Lane and hits theaters March 16!

Movie star Julia Roberts touched down in Montreal Thursday night, for her upcoming film Snow White by film maker Tarsem Singh, the actress is to play the role of the vicious queen. The 43 years old actress arrived at Mel’s Studios surrounded by bodyguards and heavy entourage.

The production of more than 125M$ is taking over five studios at the facility and the crew will be building Snow White’s village over a 100,000 square foot area. According to the Patron of Studio Mel’s Michel Trudel, who fought intensely for making this production happen in Montreal said filming in Montreal and at Mel’s studio is of great significance.

This is actress’ first visit in Montreal and her three children, the twins Phinneaus Walter and Hazel Patricia ages 7 years and Henry Daniel 4 years are expected to pay a visit following her weeks of filming.

Julia Roberts, the Oscar-winning actress who starred in last year’s film, Eat, Pray, Love, wants you to think about food.

Not the eating part — but cooking. And not fancy cooking, either. Roberts has just become a Global Ambassador for the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves.

Her job: to let the relatively affluent half of the world’s population know about the hidden danger facing the more impoverished half: deadly smoke from fuels like wood, coal or animal waste.

Hard to imagine that this is a big problem? Here are some numbers Roberts wants you to know:

• 2 million. That’s how many deaths are caused each year from inhaling smoke from these fuels.
• 16 seconds. That’s how often someone dies from cooking smoke.
• 3 billion. That’s the number of people who have no choice but to use these dangerous fuels because they don’t have access to clean cookstoves.

“Nearly 2 million people around the world – mostly women and children – die each year from an activity that many of us take for granted: cooking for our families,” Roberts said in a statement released today. “I am proud to stand with Secretary Clinton to work to reduce the senseless and preventable deaths from unsafe cooking conditions in developing countries and I look forward to contributing to the important work of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves.”

Roberts learned about the problem — and the solutions — while interviewing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for a Mother’s Day special that will be broadcast on the Oprah Winfrey Network tomorrow, Saturday, May 7th, from 8-9:30 (EDT/PDT). It’s called “Extraordinary Moms,” and Roberts presents the show and was executive producer on it.

Oprah played 20 Questions with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, who star in the upcoming Larry Crowne movie, on her show today.

Among the things we learned:

Hanks and wife Rita Wilson recently celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary. Q: How has his marriage survived the Hollywood fame trap?

“I happen to still be married because I’m not an idiot,”declared Hanks.

And how about Roberts? “I’m just in love with my husband,” she said of Danny Moder, whom she wed in 2002. She added that a friend told her “if you want an interesting relationship, stay in one. And it’s true. He gets more interesting every day.” Plus, she said, “he’s hot.”

Q: What’s their mantra for living?

“Tell the truth,” said Hanks. “That’s the secret of happiness. If you tell the truth everything will work out.”

Said Roberts: “Forward motion.”

Q: What do you watch on TV?

Said Hanks: “The five guys here will understand: The Deadliest Catch.”

“Is that a fishing show?” asked Roberts, who was teased so mercilessly by Hanks after that she never answered the question.

Q: When you’re at home being Tom Hanks, what are you doing?

“Mmmm, scratching my crotch!” he said.

Julia didn’t answer that one, either.

Before the two stars left, they did their own version of Oprah’s Favorite Things, which sent the crowd into squeals and cheers as they handed out gifts, although Roberts warned it would not be cars.

Julia Roberts wants to turn her upcoming Extraordinary Mums Tv special into a series for pal Oprah Winfrey’s new network – because there are so many great mothers.

The Oscar winner interviewed fellow mums Hillary Clinton and Rosie O’Donnell for the Mother’s Day show, which debuts in America on Saturday (07May11) – and admits she struggled to narrow down the subjects for the show to six.

She says, “For the filming, the only mum I was able to be with was Madam Secretary, Hillary Rodham Clinton, which was such an honour and a privilege, but they (crew) travelled, filming these women all over the country, all over the world. It was so impressive.

“The hardest thing was to narrow it down to just six women so I keep hitting Oprah up for a series because there are so many mums that are extraordinary.”

Julia Roberts is quite alright working less and spending more time at home.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, the 43-year-old wife and mom says she has no “mom guilt.”

“Nope,” she says, explaining that she’s scaled back the amount of work she now takes on. “I felt I earned the right to stay home and be home and get super selective abbot what I wanted to do work wise.”

Roberts, who has been married to cameraman Daniel Moder since 2002, has three children — Henry, 3 and twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 6. Part of her time at home includes cooking for her family, but she has a few conditions when she’s in the kitchen. “I have a steadfast rule that I run a kitchen, not a diner,” she says. “So I just make one meal… I try to be healthy, but listen, I love myself some bacon! So I have to cook what I think we’re all going to enjoy.. But I try to make it as healthy as possible.”
